DOMINIC SANSONI

Dominic Sansoni (b. 1956, Colombo, lives and works in Colombo) has been a professional photographer since 1980. Describing his practice as "Travels with no agenda," Sansoni’s work is deeply rooted in his intimate connection with the island, its people, culture, and architecture. He has published several books, Lunuganga, Sri Lanka -Resplendent Isle, Colour, Sri Lanka Style, Bawa -The Sri Lanka Gardens, Mauritius - Colour, Incognito - Mauritius & Rodrigues, and most recently, with Sebastian Posingis, Island from Above. 

Sansoni completed a Photography Diploma at West Surrey College of Art and Design, United Kingdom (1979).  He also has a Foundation Course in Art, Cambridgeshire College of Arts and Technology, United Kingdom (1975). 

Sansoni’s work has been featured at the Aicon Gallery, NY (2024) in Gropius Bau, Berlin (2023); Colomboscope, Colombo (2019) 7th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art, Brisbane (2013); Kathmandu International Arts Festival, Kathmandu (2012), and  Colombo Art Biennale, Colombo (2012). 

Sansoni has also been commissioned to document the work of architect Minnette de Silva for M+ in Hong Kong. He is currently working on a series based on grids of nine.
