Ahmed Rasel, born in Barishal, is a visual artist and photographer known for his focus on social, political, and environmental issues. Ahmed Rasel is a visual artist and photographer whose work focuses on social, political, and environmental issues. He explores themes such as climate change, urbanisation, and collective memory, aiming to preserve local culture and history as an archive for future generations.

Rasel’s practice critically examines the complexities of contemporary life in Bangladesh, blending art and advocacy to address the evolving relationship between humanity and its environment. His accolades include being a 2018 Samdani Art Award finalist and recognition by Tate Modern as a top artist at the Dhaka Art Summit (2018).

Several of his projects and films have been exhibited internationally in photo festivals and biennales, including the DESERTIFICATION exhibition at Kunstverein Neuhausen, Germany, in 2024; the Dhaka Art Summit in 2023 & 2018; the Chennai Photo Biennale 2021; the Kolkata International Photo Festival in 2019; and the Serendipity Art Festival. In 2025, he participated as an artist in the Kala South Asia residency programme.
